The Remedial Cyclist
So exactly what is a remedial cyclist? I was looking for a phrase that would summarize my approach to cycling after 20 years of smoking a pack a day and almost 30 years of sedentary living. In that spirit I considered myself to be physically damaged and now on a journey of recovery. The Remedial Cyclist seemed an apt moniker for a syndicated column that could reach other "older" adults that are considering a healthy active lifestyle that includes cycling. I have a background in competitive road and track cycling and am a multiple national award-winning journalist, photographer and editor. I think to write about the lifestyle demands experience in the saddle along with experiences in life - and the ability to communicate the same. I also have a unique perspective as a reformed smoker and have dropped close to 100 pounds of fat in the 2 years I've been back in the saddle. I hope you enjoy and participate in my world, and note that this blog is a companion to a column I'm developing for syndication. Your thoughts and comments are welcomed! Ride on, baby.
